Who am I?

I don’t use Twitter except for screen grabs of real talk

I live on the lands of the Gadigal and Wangal peoples of the Eora Nation, whose sovereignty has never been ceded. I walk together with them on the journey towards treaty, understanding, and a shared future. Acknowledging country is about more than obligation, it is only one part of a deeper reflection and action towards the healing and reparations (#paytherent) required.

My name is Kassie and this is my attempt at putting some of my job related thoughts down. It’s my venture into shop talk but really the main goal is to connect with other Librarians and all kinds of GLAMR folk and to build a space for reflection that I can share with people without too much embarrassment. Forgive me if it still reads like an emotional teen’s Tumblr – that has been my preferred format up until this point.

I strive to be a librarian who is first and foremost critical of power and institutions, while knowing that I hold a lot of privilege as I walk through this world. I want to use that privilege for good and hope to continue to learn how to make my profession and maybe even the world a better place. I still have an incredible amount to learn and hopefully to give.

Opinions my own and not my boss’ or institution’s etc. CC-BY license for copying and distributing my words but it would be really nice if you let me know.
